This is going to be one of my favorite posts! This is a tried and true recipe for excellent lip balm. I’ve made about 40 plus so far! I got this fantastic recipe from my sweet friend Mandy. She’s a fellow oil lover, an amazing wifey, and a homeschooling mom of 3! She’s pretty much a rockstar to me, and she was kind enough to share her recipe.
So, to get started, you will need…
1oz beeswax (3 Tbls)
1 oz coconut oil (2 Tbls)
1/2 oz shea butter (1 Tbls)
1/2 oz cocoa butter (1 Tbls)
20 drops Peppermint Oil
10 drops Lavender Oil
The first step is to add your shea butter, cocoa butter, beeswax, and coconut oil to a glass jar (i use a glass measuring jar) and place over a double boiler. Once it’s melted completely, place the glass jar on the counter to cool down for 1-2 minutes. After that time, put your drops of oil in the jar. Now comes the tricky part 😉 Pouring your melted lip balm into containers. With my glass measuring jar, it has a little lip on the side which makes it easier to pour. I just do it slowly and carefully. And yes, I do spill a bit. It’s much easier (I learned this the hard way!) to put a rubber band around all the lip balm containers so they don’t fall over.
Once they are filled, I just have them sit on the counter until they harden. You could also pour the lip balm into little pots if you don’t want to use the tubes.
And just like that you have homemade, all natural lip balms with no synthetic or endocrine blocking ingredients. And since it’s winter, this is the perfect time to make some to make your lips kissable!
All ingredients I ordered through Amazon except the coconut oil. I usually get my coconut oil from Costco since I use it so much. However, if I can’t get to Costco, Aldi’s is a great substitute. The oils of course are from Young Living.
