This blog post was written January 4, 2016. At the bottom I’ve added an update as to how my hair has grown even more! 🙂
I used to have really pretty hair. It was very thick and I loved it. It was probably the favorite thing about my looks in general.
This is me, a very long time ago when I was young and single, living and working in Hawaii.
Five years ago, I had my third baby. The transition from raising 4 kids to 5 kids was a lot harder than I thought it would be. When my baby had some special needs, that only added to the stress I was under. I fell into a deep depression and was constantly overwhelmed by the smallest of things. The following few years were the toughest of my life. My health in general was bad and all the stress in my life caused my adrenal glands and my thyroid gland to grow very sluggish. This resulted in low energy, my body wasn’t calming me down when stress got high, and I lost a lot of hair. It fell out slowly over a few years. So slowly that I didn’t really realize it until one day it occurred to me, I lost half my hair volume. I was panicking and wondering if it would continue to fall out. Would I have bald patches soon? When I would tell people they would say, no, it looks fine! Maybe I was imagining things, I mean I was really tired. I told my Mom one day when she was visiting that half my hair fell out and she just said no, it’s fine. Then she felt it and her jaw dropped. That was my confirmation. I wasn’t making it up and I was fearful it would only get worse.
It’s hard to tell sometimes because of the length. But this was all my hair pushed onto my shoulders. There was none laying in the back. This was a great day, my husband and I had a mini photoshoot to celebrate our upcoming 10th anniversary. I was still going through some really tough days and poor health, but we were happy that day.
Since my journey to back to health and my path with essential oils and the supplements I am taking, I am not having poor days anymore. I am not dealing with depression anymore (thank God) and my sluggish glands are not so sluggish anymore. I finally have energy and a clear outlook on life. And a wonderful side effect… MY HAIR IS GROWING BACK! This may not seem like a big deal to some, but for me, it’s huge! It’s a slow process obviously, but I notice it’s getting thicker. And I can see a lot of new growth on top.
This was just the other day. My husband and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary!
So this is what I’ve been doing the last 6 months to help regrow my hair: I take Thyromin, it’s a thyroid and adrenal supplement from Young Living. I’ve taken other thyroid and adrenal supplements before in the past and they have never worked. This is the major reason my glands have bounced back and started working as they should.
I also put 2 drops vitamin e, 2 drops Cedarwood, 2 drops Rosemary, and 2 drops Ylang Ylang essential oils in my hair and rub it into my scalp and throughout my hair every night. This is also helping immensely. Plus, my hair smells purrrrty. 🙂
I am not alone in my story. I have seen so many women struggle with this same problem because of their glands being sluggish, and they are using the same oils to regrow their hair. It really does work! I wanted to share this story in hopes that if another woman is struggling with hair loss, there is hope. I’d love to be a resource if anyone has any questions.
P.S. I also put Cedarwood and Lavender essential oils in my mascara and my lashes have never been so long and full. Another benefit!
UPDATE JANUARY 4, 2017! 🙂
The way my hair has been growing back is incredible. Two and a half years ago I was in tears thinking one day I would have bald patches. Now I’m so grateful. My hair has not grown back in like it was when I was younger. I’m still hoping for that someday as I know it can take years. The amount of hair that the supplement Thyromin has added along with my essential oils is truly a gift. I see the new growth in my hair and I’m so happy.
The Vitamin E, Rosemary, Ylang Ylang, and Cedarwood recipe for my hair every night was excellent. That really boosted the growth. In the past year I’ve been using an equally excellent “Grow Hair Grow” spray.
Put oils in bottle first, then fill with water and spray. I spray this on my hair, first at my roots and then all over nightly. Sometimes I spray it on in the morning as well. Again, it smells great!
This is another beauty secret I’ve been doing for the last year. I also add Lavender and Cedarwood to this recipe. My secret is I put this on at night and then just go to sleep. I give it a good wash in the morning.
So how is my hair now…
January 1, 2017. Our 12th wedding anniversary.
I can’t wait to do another update next year!
